After nearly 10 years of buying the 16 oz bottles on Amazon I decided to save myself some money buy a spray bottle and then buy the 1 gallon jug of leather oil. I did the math in my head and I realized I was saving at least $94 in the long term. Have used this on work boots, saddles and other oil tan leather products. I absolutely enjoy this product.

I live in the Northwoods of Maine. When you spend time in the back country, you either spend a little on cheap boots and throw them away after a couple of months or you buy really good boots and wear them for years. Although the initial price is punishing, it actually works out cheaper to buy the better boots, not to mention safer because if your boots fail on you while you are in the field, miles from town, you are in some actual trouble. Obenaufs boot oil is what keeps your good boots working for you. I paint it on with a paint brush. It is easy to use, dries without leaving a sticky mess and does not require extensive wiping after it has been applied. It also smells nice, like beeswax. For use on footwear, I recommend it over the heavier LP grease also sold by Obenaufs, because dirt and grit will cling to it if you don’t wipe off all the residue after applying it.

During the tanning process of Veg-Tanned leather, the natural oils are removed from the leather. I use Leather Oil to replace the lost oils, returning the leather to its original supple condition. Works great !!

I will never use anything else for my leather. I do some basic leather crafting for myself and my family members, and this oil is seriously the best on the market. Hands down. I strongly urge whoever reads this review to consider buying some, as I doubt it will dissapoint.

The previous owners of my Miata never took care of the leather and they always left the top down, so the leather was sun baked to the point of being shrunken, stiff, and felt like it'd tear if you accidentally put too much concentrated pressure on it. I tried Leatherique first based on the reviews of how it was the best at restoring, but it barely made any improvement in softness at all. I was ready to give up and replace the seats until I learned about Obenauf's, so I decided to give it a try as my last chance to restore. The Obenauf's has made a huge improvement in the leather's condition, the leather has relaxed and has a good amount of give to it now with some sections being soft and stretchy again. I just finished my second cycle of cleaning, oiling, working, and buffing the leather dry then giving it time to distribute the oil with use. I'm really happy with the results so far and feel pretty confident that a third or fourth cycle will get the leather completely supple.

I’ve been a huge fan of Obenaufs for years. All of the products are “top of the line”. If you want to take care of your leather investments, this it the only place to come.

While I have only used the oil and cleaner for two months so far they do an excellent job keeping my boots clean and looking and feeling like new. The oil has a very light smell to it and is pleasant unlike my old black can of shoe polish. The oil seems to do a much better job at maintaining the leather for a long service life unlike the polish did.

I have used a lot of products, including Lexol, and this so outperforms all of them there is no real comparison to be made.

Only use Obenouf products to care for my leather boots. Keeps the leather soft yet protected and repels water . Used it for years and will continue to do so. Im sure it adds years of service to the boots . Ive had boots resoled and got comments on the quality of the leather . It helps to start with a good boot, but Obenouf products keeps them top quality longer than any other product I have been able to find.

Pros: Seemed to make break in period easier.
Cons: the included applicator could be a bit larger for big handed guys like me. The oil will change the color of your leather. For me it doesn’t matter. It made them darker but with heat and dirt I’m sure it will cover that plus I don’t really care about the color anyway

I use the obenaufs oil on everything! Belts, shoes, boots, holsters, sheaths, whatever. It’s easy to apply and actually WORKS! Smells amazing and it’s the best lip balm I’ve ever used! This is an item that I keep stocked up on! It’s a must have!

We've used the leather oil on many of our handcrafted leather products. It outperforms the others on the market in our opinion.

I had to re-buy this because I left my original container of leather oil several states away from my coat. The coat in-question is a thin black lambskin chrome-tanned leather that I purchased circa 2013-ish. The coat had been sitting next to a window for a couple of years before I got around to repairing it, and this leather oil smoothed out any cracking from the sun damage. It also didn't take out any of the chrome dye (I've had a previous leather oil do this).
Overall, I'd buy this a third time if I need another bottle again.
